Consecutive Sits

How many days in a row will you all sit on a bait? Last year I only hunted weekends so my bait had a bit of down time between sits until I got my bear on the second weekend after spooking one off on the opener. I had the same situation this year, spooked a sow with cubs off last night and nothing showed today. I took the week off to hunt and currently only have one bait.

Generally with deer I won't hunt a spot more than two nights in a row, does the same hold true for bear? Should I try and start a new bait and give my current one a breather?

With bear it might take a few days. I shot bears on the second,third and the fifth nights. I,ve been in camp with guys that jump stands and end up missing bear as they come in after they are on a different bait. Sometime bears start to play game with a guy on bait. Like coming in in the day or after dark. These bears you need to play games with like two in one out, sit during day all day etc or try a different bait. If no games are going on waiting is best option. I believe must times the bear is not that far away when you come in to the bait. Some times they need some time to get courage up. Just my thoughts

As long as you havent spooked a bear to shoot off of the bait and you toom the week off to hunt, id sit everyday. Many openers ive missed a bear beacuse id sit eveni gs only. Climb into stand and view pics to see a bear had been in earlyie in the day. Missing him by hours. I sit a bait generaly based on what my camera tells me but a cam show only half or less of what gose o . Bear are very paitence an methodicaly slow moving caustiuos animals. And sometimes wont trigger a cam. Specially if ur batts a runni g below 60 persent. If ive taken a week off im gonna sit every possible opportunity. Ive said this before, its lime icefishing. Your vexilar dont tell yiu everything thats happening below the ice and yiu never know when thwt bobber is going down. Besides you cant shoot a bewr from the couch. Getnout and hunt. My two cents anyway
