Navionics App Help

As long as he saved it in the community layer, then you will be able to see it.

With the app open and running, hit the Menu button, then “Settings”.   On that page, you can check the “Community Edits” button.    Make sure that is checked.

Now, do back to the map and look for the icon your friend has saved.  Move the crosshair on the map screen so that it is right on top of the icon you are looking for.  When is placed on top of it, hit the “?”.    That should bring up the details of that particular icon

I guess I am still having trouble "saving" it in the community Layer. I followed your steps but nothing shows up for either myself or my friend. Is there a actual "save" button I need to push? I can only see the few icons I have placed on my map.

What am I doing wrong?

Thanks

Beef

Tap the screen where you want to place a mark and a pop up screen should come up. Tap that screen then another page will appear and select "Add an object". When complete you should save and then it will be viewable for ANYONE that has the app and the "Community Layer" enabled.

If you add a favorite, it will be a push pin type thing and only viewable by you.

When I tap the screen the only thing that pops up are the cross-hairs and a question mark. I tap on the question make and I have 2 main buttons on top, edit map and route to. under that I have distance , magazines, weather and marker.

Do I need to do something prior to tapping the screen and getting the cross-hairs? I don't see anything that says "add an object"

Thanks

okay, so I am going to download this app for my trip to Devil's lake this weekend, is "community overlay" available to anyone or just from people who send you waypoints? I figure it is just from waypoints sent to you, but what do I know, I am a PE teacher

Hmm, your's seems to have a different interface than mine. Are you on an IPhone? I have a Droid, so perhaps there is the difference. Or, I have the US Lakes North App (original version) which is no longer available, maybe that is the difference.

Anyways, for you I would think it would be the "markers" you referenced. Sorry, your's seems completely different than mine so I probably cannot help you.

Well I am a Art teacher and I'm not fairing any better. I still haven't figured this thing out totally. I can see any of the markers my friend had marked for our trip this weekend. I used it last weekend and was dead on with location and depth though.

Hey Beef,

Do exactly as DTro described above. Then do the following on both units:

MENU - SETTINGS - SYNC MY DATA - Login with the info you supplied when you purchased the App.

Navionics has made it a two way street now. If you are to receive you should also contribute.... Fair enough.

You would still be able to see all current uploaded markers without selecting SYNC MY DATA, but your buddy will have to select it to get his positions on the server.

When your buddy marks these spots he can ADD TO FAVORITES for his own reference but will need to select EDIT MAP (Above ADD TO FAVORITES)and add an icon to be shared with the community.

Not sure what I am doing wrong. I've done everything you guys have said to do. Everything seems to work but see the community additions. I've synced, logged in plotted and saved markers but my friend who has done the same thing can see anything I've saved. I don't get it.

Is there a way on this app to change settings so that the direction you are traveling is always up on the screen? I find it difficult sometimes as I am used to the H20 where you can set it like that. Thanks

Yes, hit the location button twice. The first time will take you to your current location, the second time will turn on a little flashlight icon and make your direction of travel always up.

No I don't see any pins and I've looked for them on multiple lakes

So what happens if you move the crosshair to a random spot and then hit the "?". Can you save the spot to a favorite? If not, then there must be some other issue. I'd probably uninstall the thing and then reinstall.

I reinstalled, went to a random spot on the lake hit the ? mark next to the cross-hairs. I but only have the option to edit map, route to, distance, magazine, weather, marker. I tap marker, it adds the marker to my map but I have to go back into menu > archive > Markers > click on each mark then save.

I do see other peoples additions with a little green + sign.

Ok, so if you are seeing other people’s green marks, then you are able to view the community layer.    Good we are getting somewhere.  smile

You should be seeing something similar to this when you hit the “?” mark after going to a random spot.

If you are seeing options about archives and magazines, that is because you hit the “menu” button.  You shouldn’t have to do that to mark a spot

Sorry, I didn’t realize the GUI was that much different from Android to IOS.  I’m not going to be able to help with the Iphone version.  Hopefully someone else can chime in.

Just by looking at that screen, I would think hitting the “marker” button would be the choice, but its only speculation on my part

    • My kid was eating in Beverly Hills and ran into this guy. Talked to him a bit and wished him luck in the game tonight.
    • 🤔as a recovering machinist!🤣🤣that must make me a recovering welder!
    • As a recovering machinist, I can appreciate that.  If the spec is 0.001 - 0.0015, then clearly the correct measurement is 0.00125, duh…
    • I just figured that it is easy enough to just get a 3 bank so when the boat is not in use I can keep all 3 batteries charged. I have not bough a charger yet, maybe I will give it some more thought. Edit: After thinking this over, with the size, weight, and heat output of the charger (as well as the cost) I think it makes sense to just buy a 2 bank charger, I have a smaller charger i can use on the starting battery when the boat is sitting at home. Forgive me, for i am a retired engineer and I have to obsess over everything...
    • Congrats on the motor!  I think you’ll like it.   I can’t say much on the charger location but I’ve seen them under the lid in back compartments and under center rod lockers.  160 degrees is more than I expected to hear.   Curious why you’re opting for a 3 bank charger with a 24V trolling motor.  Unless you don’t feel you be running you big motor enough to keep that battery up as well?
    • I did buy an Minnkota Ulterra, thanks for the recommendations. I had a bunch of Cabela"s bucks saved up, which helped. Now i need to get an onboard battery charger. Where do you guys mount these things in your boat? The manufacturer I am looking at {Noco genius) says tht their 3-bank charger will run at 160 degrees, seems like a lot of heat in an enclosed compartment? Thanks for any input on this.
    • You're very lucky a troop of Sea Monkey's didn't carry you away.
    • Wasn't terrible at a state park beach. Antelope island maybe.  I wouldn't recommend it as a beach destination tho.  Figured I was there, I'm getting in it.
