I got the black plus...the battery is way better on the plus and there are a few more features with recording quality. the difference between the two waterproof housings is plus waterproof housing is smaller. If you get the plus make sure you get a class U 1 micro sd card not a class 10. A lot of the problems people where having with the hero black was the class 10 card wasn't fast enough and play back didn't seem smooth. I heard that an some micro sd don't work with the camera at all. they give a list on there HSOforum under support.

I was thinking of upgrading my Hero2 to a "+" model but then noticed they take micro-SD cards. I already have enough money tied up in SD cards that I really didn't want to start over with micro-SD cards right now. Maybe down the line I'll look at this new version, but I'll stick with the Hero2 for a little longer as it really isn't that old.

I was bummed to see them move to miniSD cards as well. Have plenty of high GB normal SD Cards laying around but had to buy a new miniSD card for the 3 Black Edition. I imagine it was because they made the 3 a significant amount smaller than the 2 and the move to miniSD cards saved space.
