JigEmIndusties
Has anyone used one of these yet? They look like the best way to go. But before I go that route of a cordless drill I'd like to hear some reviews. Any Advice?
hydro
Yeah, I used one all last winter. They work great, light weight, never fail to start, no rope to pull. You won't be doing the Swiss cheese hole kind of fishing, so plan your hole drilling wisely. I got 34 holes through 18" of ice on one battery in about 10 degree weather (7" Mora hand drill). Now let the "My drill brand is best" banter begin.......... JigEmIndusties
That was my next question, is it best to do the drill and auger combo or does any industrial cordless drill do the trick? Of course they say use their drill for the best performance but is that really necessary?
PerchPounder
Almost any higher end big name 18v or higher drill would work as long as you put it in low gear.
Werewolf
I started using the electric drill thing two years ago and never looked a my gas drill since, we don't get the very thick ice in the east like you Minnesota guys, I used it up to 15 inches of ice and it works great, my set up is a Dewalt 20 volt lit/ion battery ,1/2 inch chuck hammer drill cost around $200.00 on line , I carry the two batteries in my cooler to keep them off the ice, I can drill a 100 holes in 5 to 6 " of ice non stop on one battery, about 40 holes @ 10 to 12 " of ice using my 6' lazer hand drill using the adaptor you can buy online, whole set up weights about 10 lbs and I used the drill all year long to boot...
