i keep following the instructions on the web site but it will not work there is no beep at the end and it does not change software has this happened to any one else

Try it on another computer. I have 1 computer that will not update marcums and I don't know why it won't work ..... but I've got 2 other computers that do the updates just fine so I don't worry about the other one ..... Good luck getting it done.

I had the same problem, I just bought one this week. I have two computers at home and one did nothing, the other would cause the chirping to stop during the download but would not give me the beep at the end, I must have tried it 10 times. I called Marcum and he said it must be the PC. Today I took it to the small shop I got it at and it worked perfect, took about 3 minutes from start to finish.
