Lake Nipigon

Random question: Has anyone ever fished/heard about fishing (especially ice) on Lake Nipigon in ON (about an hour north of Thunder Bay)?

Of all species to ice fish, Lakers are my favorite (although I only do it once a year currently). I just noticed the size of it and relative proximity to the Twin Cities and that got me wondering.

Guys do fish it. I have no idea which resort. There aren't many resorts on the lake so call around to the half dozen or so. I was up there last summer and talked to one guy who ice fished it and never caught a fish but that doesn't say much because it is a BIG lake. There are some monsters in there. A 55lber was caught the week before we got there this summer.

A lot of serious laker ice fisherman go to white otter or clear water.

Nipigon is ony my bucket list, but in the summer! That's just too much lake to go around punchin' holes in. Accessibility would be an issue also. Probably snowmobiles and dog sleds only. People ice fish thunder bay.
