spivak
I have a couple older hang-on stands and climbing sticks. They get stored inside every year but I do wonder about their safe life span. I'm sure the nylon straps weather in the sun and elements but I don't see much in the way of replacing those parts. Do you just chuck them and buy new after a self imposed limit of 5 years? 10 years? On another note, anybody try the Guido's Web climbing saddle? mainbutter
I know my safety harness has a lifespan saying when to replace it. Contact the manufacturer and they may be able to let you know
MattL
I usually replace the straps every 3-5 years or so when they start looking sketchy. But I also leave most of my stands out all year. I had an aluminium Gorilla that developed a few extra moans, pops, and groans that I was going to retire after 15 years, but someone stole it so it became their problem. I'm still using the steel stands that age and older. I've taken a few apart and replaced plastic washers.
