metal or plastic

Recommended Posts

I had an issue last season with my 50 hp merc. I am starting with the easy things first. It kinda bogged out but never died. I think it is diaphram or fuel pump in carbs or air leak in fuel delivery. I checked the vent on plastic tank I have it was open. I noticed fuel coming out of fitting on hose at the tank when I prime the bulb. I have a metal tank and put the hose on it and no issue with leak there. I am wondering if you guys like plastic or metal tanks better? I have used the plastic one I have for a long time. The metal one is older and needs a gasket where the hose connects that peice that has the tube going into the tank and the float gauge. can I buy a gasket for that or am i better off making one from a sealant type gasket that sets up?
