I am thinking about buying the 9x16 Eskimo hub house as we have a gazillion kids on our block that like to go out ice fishing and the large size would fit them well each weekend.

Any thoughts or warnings on getting the quite large but needed 9 x16 would be very much appreciated.

Double Mr. Heater should warm it up well but with kids around those arent the best option sometimes... Big buddy in that case would work, too. I have the 6x12 eskimo and a single mr heater warms in moderately well. On ML when it was -30 my single Mr heater didnt do jacksquat in my shack unless you were right next to it.
