Fisher Dave
I found out some info on the lake on the south end of Louisville Swamp that I found disturbing. ( Jordan area )For any of us locals that hunt the lake, this concerns us all. The gate was not open to the access on Sept 14th ( youth hunt & archery opener ). I called the Minnesota Valley National Wildlife refuge to find out what is going on and they said they're not going to open the gate. The road going back is classified as a minimum maintenance road and 4x4 is recommended until freeze up .. I agree with that but dont see the problem. Its basically a field access road and it is rough, has been for as long as I can remember.. so what is the difference now ?? Apperantly the township doesnt want to pay to maintain the road .. NO maintenance in my memory cant be costing that much.On to the next problem .. the water is accessable from near the gate with small carry in boats .. I dont know how much effort it is to get to the main lake from the back channels .. but thats duck hunting .. so is carrying in small boats .. but carry them from where ?? There is no where to park. The only public parking area is at the access at the end of the gated road. These areas recieve support from our license and tax dollars. I feel we should have the right to hunt them as we wish within the boundaries of the law.I may not be the best with words, nor do I hold any weight in any politics .. but somebodies tree needs to be shaken a few times. Hunters are losing rights all the time. We shouldn't be given problems accessing some of the only public waterfowl hunting land near that end of the metro, or anywhere for that matter. If I had a brain I would be Dangerous,Fisher Dave
