Strikemaster Question

So I baught the Mad Dog ice auger bracket and in the instructions it says to lay the auger muffler down and then stap down the handles. So my question is should I be laying my auger muffler down to use the auger mount or should I move the brackets as to stand the auger up and face the muffler out? I know after I drill holes and set my auger down I stand it on the handle so that the fuel cap is up and the muffler is out. Not sure if it is going to hurt the auger or drip gas out if I lay the aguer so it is muffler down when it is on the wheeler. Side note that if you lay the auger muffler down the gas cap and carb are still on top. I also ask because if i strap the auger down with the muffler down it would be less jaring on the handle and shaft.
