non resident needs help.

I am from Michigan, but working in Minnesota for the next few months.

I plan on ice fishing a few times when I am here.I have a newer four wheeler and a clam Kenai that is never left on the ice overnight.

I have read the regulation book but i am still confused about two things.

1.Is a dark house permit required for my ice shelter??

2.Do I need to register my four wheeler in the state of Mn as long as I am only using it on the lakes for fishing??

In Mi we are required to purchase an ORV (off road vehical)permit for use on lakes or state trails.

I want to have all the bases covered and have no issues with the DNR.

I went to the DNR's HSOforum for these. If something has changed, I'm sure someone will chime in. Hope it helps you out.

Portable shelters do not need a permit unless they are left on the ice unattended over night.

I will need to buy a non resident trail pass though.

Shelter's don't need a permit but you have to put either your MN DNR # or your driver's license # in it somewhere in letters 2" high. Most just write it on a piece of paper and put it in a window it the sleeve made for license's.
