Estimate Weight

Hope you guys can help me out. I was out on a lake near Bemidji yesterday(secret lake x). My wife is throwing a spinnerbait and manages to boat a 42 1/4" pike. Problem is by the time we took pictures and measured the length I was feeling like we were short on time and I released it without getting the girth. It was an extremely healthy fish not fat but definitely thick through shoulders and back. I'm guessing were in the 19-21# range, but would like a little more input. Thanks.

The basic weight formula is length x girth x girth divided by 800.

This would put your fish with a 20" girth at 21 pounds plus or minus. You can plus or minus based on thickness of the tail section and how uniform the girth was.

Any way Dandy Fish! Any 40" plus Pike is a true trophy.

Thanks for the story and the RELEASE!

Steve

Thanks for the info guys. The head actually is pretty proportional to the rest of the body, I'm at work looking at the picture and the body is actually thicker than the head through to the dorsal.
