My aunt has a trailer on a lake and i am going up there with her this weekend to help with some yard work but then im going fishing, i am however not bringing with the boat. Last time i was up there i saw many northers surfacing about 25 yards from the dock right on the weed edge, my question is how do i catch these fish, the water is too deep to wade out from the dock more than about 10 ft, and i can barly cast to the edge of the weedline where they are at, if i use a big bobber with a chub underneath will that catch me some? how should i set it up? ive heard of a Quick strike rig, how does that work? sorry for all the questions thanks in advance for any help.

Maybe try some topwater like buzzbaits, jackpots ect. If that doesnt work try to cast some spoons. Big little everything that you have. Make sure that you have a leader. 9 in will do but i prefer a 12 in. For bobber fishing i have luck just taking a 5-6 in. sucker put it down about 3-5 feet and cast it out. The setup that i ALWAYS have my luck with a bobber is as follows. 12-14 lb mono. a big bobber. in deepers water you might want to use a big slip bobber. nothing that you would use for walleyes or bass but some big ones. about 12-14 in above the hook put on your weights. Then your 9-12" leader and your hook. When you hook a sucker put it right in front of the dorsal fin. on the head side. cast it out and sit and wait. hope this helps you on your quest for some toothy critters. Good luck.

B.T.W. what lake are you going to be fishing?
