fishadb Posted June 15, 2012 Share Posted June 15, 2012 Just bought an Alumacraft Navigator 165 with a 70hp Yamaha tiller. Did the break in procedure yesterday, then took it to top speed, it ran at 5450 at 28mph with two of us in it. Dealer said it should run 5500-6200. wastewaterguru Posted June 15, 2012 Share Posted June 15, 2012 It's all about what you like. 5450 is close enough to 5500 that I don't think I would switch props. Plus when you only have one guy you'll get more top speed and rpm's will still be in range. However, if you plan to put a third guy in the boat on occasion, then you will want to drop to a 13 pitch.
