I just got my first muskie/northern rod! Really excited to take it out but dont really know what kind of lures I should use. What kind of lures would be good for a beginner, easy to use, that u guys have had some success with?

mike for a simple lure to start with; my first two choices would be either a surface lure or a bucktail. both are simple to work. then you can start exspanding to the jerk baits, cranks,plastics and such. del

Mike next question is do you have the proper gear for handling and releasing these toothy critters? A sucessful release is just as important as hookng one in the first place. Big coated Net, jaw spreaders, pliers, bolt cutters if necessary, and don't forget a ruler...
