82 Johnson 25 horse

I have a 1982 Johnson 25 Horse and it has a starter. I have to put in a new slynoid but it doesnt have a start button on the motor. I have to wire one up and mount it somewhere. I am just wondering if these motors have alternators? Thanks!

If it came from the factory with a starter, it will have a charging system. What is the model number, I can tell you from that.

if the motor came from the factory with E start it should have a charging coil under the flywheel this will help keep the battery stay charged up, if you drain the battery some how and expect it to recharge fully it probably wont.

if the starter is a add on it might not have the charging coil and you will have to charge it before you use it.
