You can wire your receptacles only to the inverter and use the shorepower inlet to run a battery charger, it would be pretty simple that way.

Or you could buy build a automatic transfer switch, might run a few hundred dollars.

Yes, that would be about the simplest way to do it.

The company I work for has numerous field test & race trailers and some of them are done this way.

We also have some double decked trailers with solar panels on the roof and 20kw diesel generators for use in remote locations. They look like the ones the Nascar guys use.
