I am looking to buy a kicker for my Lund Explorer 1725. It has a f115 yammy for main motor. What size kicker do I need. Do I need a 9.9? I was thinking something in the 5, 6, or 8 hp range.

The best 4 stroke kickers from the major companies are 9.9's or 15's You won't need a 15 for that boat.

I don't know much about the 5 & 6 HPs, but must not see many of them for a reason. T8's are no longer made, but you can find them being sold every so often. Yamaha, IMO, made some very minor changes to the T8 and put a 9.9 sticker on it to be in line with Merc / Evinrude. Really no significant difference, but sometimes something with a bigger number just looks better to some.
