Troll or Cast

During a warm up in the fall would you cast or troll more?

I will always cast if the weather permits. I just enjoy it more. As far as productivity; I would say trolling on the colder days and casting on the warmer days will produce the most fish. When the sun is out and the shallows warm up during the day, the warm water will attract the small and large fish both. Muskies like to be warm, more so than the Pike does. When they can have both food and comfort up shallow, that's where they will be.

Look for a shallow flat that faces W/SW and gets hit by the afternoon sun, that is THE place to be, as it is getting dark.

I like to cast. sunday we were casting and did very well. had 2 first timers boat catch there first muskies. one a lil shy of 40 in and the other 45 plus. we were using big jerks gliders and big hair. good luck!

Day cast night troll... got a couple nice ones at Mille Lacs trolling husky jerks/rouges
