Tilt/Trim jack question

Recommended Posts

I run a 50 horse merc on my boat. When im going through stump fields, shallow water, etc and ive got my motor trimmed up i cant go any faster than i would if i was walking at a quick steady pace. Literally. If i give it anymore throttle it instantly sucks my motor down deeper in the water. Any ideas what the problem may be? Im def no motor head. Low on fluid maybe?

Most motors have an automatic override that trims the motor down to a certain point after a certain RPM...

Perhaps that is it, although I can usually get going pretty good with my 115 Merc.

what type of trim do you have? if its a 2 trim 1 raise type system then your motor will be able to push the raise ram back into the two tilt rams. i believe there is a pressure valve so if you hit something it will give. nothing you can really do about it other than check the fluid and dont goose it.
