Paul Waldowski
Mr. Pike, I have always had my best luck using a Suick as a jerk bait. You can adjust the fin in back and make it dive deep or shallow. I like for mine to dive about 3 feet on each jerk and then I allow it to float to just below the surface before jerking it again. Then just hang on ------------------Paul[email protected]
Mr. Pike1
Thank you. I will do some tweeking on the tail. I fish mostly walleye but this small lake by house has Tigers so I have invested in some musky tackle. I mostly use the big black and red buck tail and top water spinner bait. Are there any others you recommend. The lake I fish for Musky by my place seems to produce on the spinner baits and while fishing bass you usually get a follow or a strike as the tigers are on the weedline with the largmouth... Guest
The suick is a great pike and musky bait - it is meant to be used as a jerkbait... If your fishing deeper water or the fish are looking for a slower presentation, use a weighted suick (or add some lead to the unweighted suick). This keeps it down a little longer on a jerk and allows you to run it slower and/or deeper. The unweighted suick comes up pretty fast and is good for working over the tops of weed beds. MT Net
Try Giant Jackpot or any other "walk the dog" style bait over the weed tops. And don't forget to get a few muskie sized spinnerbaits. Thorne Bros. has a huge selection of muskie spinner baits, and all sorts of baits for that matter.
