Moose
Hey all, I'm looking for a bare root Indian magic Crab Apple. Anyone know of any suppliers who carry these in the spring. Also my previous crab apple the birds hated is this variety bird friendly?
Powerstroke
I don't know anything about this specific variety, but there doesn't appear to be any red flags. It doesn't appear to be any better for birds than some of the other varieties, but it does say one of its benefits is birds. Looks like a nice tree. Dotch
We have an Indian Magic tree and a Red Splendor side by side. The Indian Magic is more lateral in growth habit and has been extremely healthy as well as easy to maintain. It bears fruit heavily. While the birds don't dislike it, they'll pick the Red Splendor clean first. In the spring however before the ground thaws, the Indian Magic tree still has fruit on it and particularly the robins aren't so fussy then. There is nothing left when the tree leafs out.
