Cpt. Fish
Has anyone used, or heard anything about these rods? I was looking into getting one and would like any feedback you can give me.
Guest
I dont have one of the pete mania rods, but i do have several other rods such as the pro qualifier, extreme, bionic blade, and some cheaper ones. For what you pay for the BP rods and reels a guy can get some really nice stuff. I have tried some st croix rods and some shimanos, and i dont think they are worth what they cost, but that is just me. Based on what i have experienced i would say go for it, and if you dont like it you can return it within 30 days.
TomWehler
Mania Rod & Reel combos are totaly over hauled this season.Good bang for the buck I would say.Had one since they came out in 1999 and it is OK to good.Rods needed better guides, reel seats and the balancing system needed work.New rods seem lighter, seats much stronger and NEW guides look much lighter and should wear well?Reels look like a Calcutta now, but NOT high end stuff?Mine from '99 is still good but I really only use it for slow twitching BIG heavy gliders and cranks!OK for the money, but St. Croix, Compre, Rizzos are much better for me and my pocket book.I did break my long standing habit of saying NO to custom rods and am having a 7' HF Custom one on the way from Jim at Country Kat Rods and hope to do well with it.Also having one built by Robert at Fast Strike Rods in Burnsville!A nice XHF 7' 6" brut.Sweet.All about what you use them for, how long you want then to last and how deep you want to dig. Guest
I haven't fished with the Mania Rod, but I have picked one up. They seem a bit on the heavy side. Personally, I would spend the extra money and get a St Croix.
