Opinions on Catala and Corsair for muskies

Here's a poor boy using less than a Calcutta. So, how 'bout a Catala and Corsair? I already own them and have been using them for musky fishing but never hooked into a big one. Biggest is a 36" pike on Vermilion. Some have expressed concern over the Corsair but I'd like your opinions on both. Thanks!

If you can't afford the Calcutta, go with Abu -Garcia 6500 series reels. Gears are metal, not plastic. Much better reel for your money. May not be as smooth as the lower level Shimano, but will not slip ever.

For the money you can't beat a 6500c3.
If you can't afford the Calcutta, save yourself some money and buy the Abu.

Just remember....It's only plastic!!

I have a Corsair and I feel it is one of the worst reels I have ever used. It will not cast at all without a mess. It's now used for trolling exclusively.

I have used both the Catala and Cosair. Niether one made it one month. I found they both were junk. 6500C3 is still the best affordable reel I have found.

Go with the 6500, it will take care of you. I blew out a Corair in 2 years, never get one again!
