guyonacouch
Maybe you guys can help here...I was plowing my driveway with my 06 Honda Rubicon the other night when it was about -1 outside, now that I said that out loud that was a bit ridiculous, but it might have contributed to the problem. Anyways, I'm using lights and my winch quite a bit. I accidentally kill the machine while shifting to reverse and when I went to restart it, it wouldn't fire. Was turning over as fast as usual but would not fire. I pulled the rope and it started easily and ran fine. Shut it down - hit the starter - no fire. Pull the rope, start right up. However, a couple times it took quite a few pulls to get it going, so I definitely want my electric starter back and don't want to get stuck out on a lake pulling 100 times...I put it on the charger this morning - tried the starter again and it started just like always - barely even turned over and it's running. The battery is new from this fall. Would a low battery be reason it's not firing? Is there some other electrical issue that could be the culprit? Any suggestions are welcomed as I'm not very good at diagnosing electrical issues. Thanks.
Dave
Anyways, I'm using lights and my winch quite a bit.Not uncommon that the battery drains faster than recharge. I've had machines turn over "just fine" but would not start, only to have it start on first pull with the rope, too. Maybe plow with your lights off if you can and limit the use of winch to test the theory you're using it too much. Example, lift the blade and inch or two instead of all the way up, if you can. Little tricks like this help save some juice in the battery.
guyonacouch
So, the battery seemed to be the issue I was having as it's started up without a problem all week long after I gave it a good charge. I did plow again, only I did it during the day so I didn't use my lights and I took your advice on not raising the plow so much...I didn't even realize I was lifting it so much until I thought about it. Thanks for your help!
