10lb fireline for #3 Chubby Darters

I picked up 5 Chubby darters and was wondering about Solmo's line recommendations. They say to use the 4 lb test for a #4 Darter. I have 10lb fire line Fused micro ice with a 4 lb diameter. I am wondering if this line would be ideal since the diameter is the same as 4 lb or if mono would be better if it falls quicker, keeping the ideal action of the lure? I would like to stick with this line for now and maybe use a fluorocarbon leader as I fish in areas with lots of pike. Also, has anyone tried this line with the #3 darters?

It will work, but I find it a tad bit stiff and coily. I would step down to 4# or 6# Fireline instead.
