I'd like to propose a permanent topic towards the top of the ice fishing forum whereby posters provide information about "breakthroughs" that occur during ice fishing season. The intention is not to satisfy a morbid interest but to provide a concentrated and current source of valuable and maybe lifesaving information.

It would take the cooperation of posters and moderators to make this an info rather than discussion topic. I'd suggest first hand information including: the name of the lake and general location of the incident; the source of information (radio station, newspaper, TV station, generic eyewitness source, etc.; specifics of incident (snowmobile, pickup, four wheeler, foot travel, etc.; and any special circumstances.

Part of what prompts this suggestion was an experience in mid March a couple years ago. I was going to LOW (Buffalo Point) to fish and bring our two permanents in. When going through customs, I shared my purpose with the customs officer. He then advised me to be careful as he knew of at least three pickups that had broken through that week. That info may have kept me from adding my truck to the list since there had been no specific info from that area posted here.

Just a suggestion.
