this will be a genreal topic on who likes what and who hates what.

I will start of by saying that the best decoys I have purchased are bigfoot floater goose decoys, there light big and keep there paint very well. The only reason there on top of the oversized GHG is becuase of weight. those GHG's are tanks

Now for the best duck decoys I think G&H takes the cake. there tough, realistic and pretty light, the only bad thing about them is there getting tougher to come by unless you order them online, everyone is going to ghg.

GHG on the other hand are great looking and the prices are about average for the times. I just bought some prograde actives this year and I hope they look as good in a couple seasons as they do now. becuase the G&H I bought in high school still look great.

Herters are very nice decoys also but, as everyone knows everything great has to end sometime, I have some style 62 foamers and I have used them to change a tire without crushing them (super durable). I just wish they werent so expensive on the bidding site.

Is there anyone out there that uses Plasti-duk's(Nuemanns/Bennets).

A old friend of mine had some and they looked great in the water and they were super easy to body wrap.

I'm sure there are more things about decoys but just trying to get a few things out there for the new guys

I bought a dozen herters foam dekes a few years ago (just over $100) and far and away the best dekes I've ever owned, take it for what its worth, I've only owned flambeau, Greenhead Gear, and a few others that didnt last, but sure am glad I bought the herters when I did. Best thing about them you use them till theyre darn near beat, then burlap and repaint and they're even tougher than before. They can take a few stray bb's as well. But dont tell my hunting buddies that.

I'll echo the Herters comments. My dad had a couple dozen mags (7s's) of which 14 survived. They spent years sitting out in the sun, so the paint was pretty much gone on the bodies.

I just could not see letting them stay this way, so I took all the heads off, and burlaped them. I gave them all a quick paint job with fleet farm rattle can flat paint, and they are now on long lines.

I love my old foamers!

    • My kid was eating in Beverly Hills and ran into this guy. Talked to him a bit and wished him luck in the game tonight.
    • 🤔as a recovering machinist!🤣🤣that must make me a recovering welder!
    • As a recovering machinist, I can appreciate that.  If the spec is 0.001 - 0.0015, then clearly the correct measurement is 0.00125, duh…
    • I just figured that it is easy enough to just get a 3 bank so when the boat is not in use I can keep all 3 batteries charged. I have not bough a charger yet, maybe I will give it some more thought. Edit: After thinking this over, with the size, weight, and heat output of the charger (as well as the cost) I think it makes sense to just buy a 2 bank charger, I have a smaller charger i can use on the starting battery when the boat is sitting at home. Forgive me, for i am a retired engineer and I have to obsess over everything...
    • Congrats on the motor!  I think you’ll like it.   I can’t say much on the charger location but I’ve seen them under the lid in back compartments and under center rod lockers.  160 degrees is more than I expected to hear.   Curious why you’re opting for a 3 bank charger with a 24V trolling motor.  Unless you don’t feel you be running you big motor enough to keep that battery up as well?
    • I did buy an Minnkota Ulterra, thanks for the recommendations. I had a bunch of Cabela"s bucks saved up, which helped. Now i need to get an onboard battery charger. Where do you guys mount these things in your boat? The manufacturer I am looking at {Noco genius) says tht their 3-bank charger will run at 160 degrees, seems like a lot of heat in an enclosed compartment? Thanks for any input on this.
    • You're very lucky a troop of Sea Monkey's didn't carry you away.
    • Wasn't terrible at a state park beach. Antelope island maybe.  I wouldn't recommend it as a beach destination tho.  Figured I was there, I'm getting in it.
