Spinner size and color?

Hi,

Looking for some advice on what color and size you use? Does this differ with the time of year? When and when not to add a spinner?

I’m been fishing bass for years and started fishing walleye’s and looking for some starter advice on spinner selection. Have been using crawlers for bait with and without a spinner, but having better luck with the spinner being added. Bought some and then tied up a few different colors and sizes. I haven’t noticed much difference with changing color but having more success with smaller size spinner (like a size 2 verse size 4).

My second set of questions is regarding hook size? I’ve been using a single Matzuo sickle octopus size #4 and #6 hooked through the head, both hook sizes seem to hook up fine. Is there a different hook I should consider?

Gold Spinner with crawler harness. Only hook the front hook. Leave the back hook free. Seems to be the most reliable year in and year out.
