Fenwick Elite Tech River Runner Rod Reviews?

Recommended Posts

Looking to upgrade my panfish rod - came across this new series from Fenwick. Anyone have any experience with these rods that can provide some feedback (please include length/power/action in your comments). Seems like a great setup at a good price. Designed for trout, but I think it would be work well for panfish (jigging and casting small plastics, spinners, cranks, etc)

Unfortunately can't seem to find it in local stores so I can't check it out in person. Considering the 6'2 L, or a 6'8 L or UL. I don't do a lot of open water panfishing so I am torn between the L and UL power rods.

Product Description:

- High-modulus graphite blank

- Fast tip with a soft action

- Ideal for handling even the lightest lures

- Premium titanium frame guides with SiC inserts

- Unique ''hidden handle'' has sculpted TAC™ inlays

- Split grip design keeps weight to an absolute minimum

- Available in UL-5'8",6'8"; L-6'2",6'8",7'2",7'8"

(all fast action except 6'2")

Thanks!

Have used an Elite Tech walleye rig. I know it's not the same as you are asking, but that rod was awesome. I had been lindy rigging a St. Croix Legend series and my buddy handed me his Elite Tech for a second (both 7-6" MLF rods) and I couldn't believe the difference in weight. The Elite was soo much lighter. I continued to fish the Elite that evening and was extremely impressed. I asked how much, figuring at least the price of that St. Croix, but it was about 1/2! Only downfall is it's made in China, but if that's not a concern for you then I can't think you'd be disappointed. Good Luck.

Thanks for the feedback Carpenter. I've gone with the Fenwick Walleye Elite Tech's for all my Walley jigging and rigging rods since last season. I also love them. Add a Pflueger Supreme reel and you have an awesome walleye combo for the less than most high end rods. Amazingly light.
