How much do lab puppies eat in first year / per month?

Hey there-

Just trying to get a gauge on a budget for a lab pup for the first year.

A couple questions:

1) What are some averaged-priced dog foods for a pup?

2) How many bags of that dog food (in #1) will I go through in a month?

Thanks Everyone!

This thread will likely start an entire debate on this food or that food as being the best. Each dog is different, therefore what works well with one dog may not be good for another. IMO, I would say an average quality food will run about $1.00 to $1.25 per pound. I don't recall as a pup, but my dog currently eats about $30.00 to $35.00 per month. Unless you have health issues with the pup you should get by on less than $200/yr vet fees. Probably another $20/month for Heartguard/Frontline. Then you also have toys and other training supplies. If you plan on training yourself I would highly recommend the Evan Graham Smartwork DVD series. BTW, I have fed Nutrisource until just recently and will deffinately be switching back.
