Bladder Stones

Well if it isn't one thing with the dog, it is another. Upon the check up and xrays it appears that he has some relatively large bladder stones. The vet wants to get him in again soon for a ultrasound for another 45 bucks. Then it usually leads to surgery which I cannot really afford. Has anyone else here been through bladder stones with a dog?
