I am looking for any advice the best rod length/action for bass jigging. I am thinking 6'6" medium heavy with a spinning reel but any and all suggestions are welcomed by this newbie!!!

If you are talking about Jig-n-Pig fishing, I would go with a 7'-6" long medium-heavy to heavy baitcasting setup. You will want the extra backbone to get the fish out of the cover.
My two cents.

Heavy action may be your best bet if you are fishing foil and shallow cover you need to get the fish out of it with pure power. You may need two rods one for heavy cover...I'd get a longer rod than 6.6...and one for outside weedlines and rock piles. Most bass guys carry a jig worm rod and a heavy duty flipping style rod at all times.
