Eskimo, Piranha

jighead

Question

My Eskimo keeps killing when I start drilling holes, the thing was a gift from my wife a couple of years ago for X-mas. Any advice as far as setting the carb adjustments? Once it is warmed up it runs better. Just seems to kill when I first try to drill through the first inch or so of ice. Sluggish when it just breaks through the last portion of ice. I monkeyed around with the adjustments because I could not get it started when I first receieved it , (did not have it primed), so instead of waiting until it was primed I messed with the adjustments. I know,,,, stupid! but I was in a hurry to get out fishing. Anyone familar with these units. They are a Teucumseh engine, TC-II Piranha, by Eskimo. Any help for putzo here would be appreciated!
