Jiggawhat
Just wondering if anyone has used these LEDs and whether it would sufficient to light a clam guide. Thanks.
mr.z 1972
I use one in my clam guide and I really like it. I didn't have it fully charged last time out and it started to go dim. Luckily I had the cord with to hook it up to the vex battery and all was good. I also like that it can be used as a flash light. I would recommend this light. Epick4
Just bought one myself. Haven't used it on the ice yet. Practicing in my basement, this is what I find so far-Likes-+seems like it will be enough to light my 1 man Trapper+go cordless w/ inboard rechargeable batteries+use locater battery w/ alligator clip adapter+use as shop light w/ AC adapter+use as vehicle light w/ cig lighter adapter+torch/flashlight to save power when needed+straps secure to flipover frameDislikes--had to drill hole and insert screw to hold torch end to the tube-clear tube seems like thin plasticJust my 2 cents. jdsmi
I don't own the Clam LEDs but I've been using a rechargeable Craftsman LEDs "tube" light for a couple years now. They look similar other than mine does not have a 12V option. In my 2-man Frabil, I usually place mine over the holes and it provides plenty of light. If I really want to brighten things up I'll hang a UFO light behind me but that's not neeed. The pro's of this type of light is it lasts forever on a charge, it's much more durable than the UFO lights that it replaced, and in a pinch it even doubles as it's marketed use (trouble light). It also works great for camping.Bottom line, if the Clam throws light similar to mine, you shouldn't have a problem.
Sportland_Bait
works awesome, you'll love it.Jason erlandson
broman
Torch end falling apart seems to be an issue with them. I was fishing with WestSideFishing and he had one. The top was hanging by it's wires on his.
fishinmedic
I like it alot, only problem is the swtich, sometimes get turned on in the bag I keep it in. On a side note, not a big fan of the light/fan combo. In order to use just the light you have to have the D batteries in it. Otherwise you can use the fan and light togther from a Vex battery. I called Clam about this and they verified to me that that is the way it's wired.
dmichaelm
Have it, Love it. I fish a Clam 5600 and its enough light. Like the option to charge it, and hook it to the 12v source. Goes on the car charger on the way to the lake just to make sure...Use it in the garage for other things as well. Had to do some work on the car and it hung right on the hood. I'll second the previous comment about the switch sometimes getting flipped on in the bucket. Just one more thing to pay attention to. chuckwagon
If you bought any style of these LED 12 volt work lights. Could you cut the car charger end off the charging unit and replace the ends with aligator clips and use the light running directly off the vex battery? Or will the light sense that its charging and not turn on while hooked up to battery?
DRH1175
I bought one. It comes with lighter adapter, 120v adapter, and alligator clips so you wont need to. But yes you could.
chuckwagon
I was just wondering if it would work with any of them. Seeing a lot of posts about the quality of clams lights makes me wonder if I should get a more rugged model and mod it myself
Nick Kuhn
12 volts is 12 volts. It will work if you do that.

Schleichenator
I just ordered these to light up a small 2-man flip-over. Going to rig the wires for alligator clips myself. http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B005EHHLD8/ref=olp_product_details?ie=UTF8&me=&seller=I'll post pics when it's set up.
