slopmaster
Looking to pick up one of these two for next season, had some others in mind also but with the great warranty i think it'll be one of these. I'll use it mostly for pitching 3/8 and 1/2 ounce jigs or plastics under docks, into pencil reeds, timber, and moderate grass cover. Any input on these two would be apprecitated. Im interested to see if the price difference is worth the upgrade so if you have both which one is better? thanks.
Deitz Dittrich
I'd rather other people chimed in on this one... Other than a shimano sales man.. I will however give my .02$.. The Cumara is much lighter in my opinion. Some people prefer the cork on the crucial. The Cumara is a little more brittle(higher IM rating), I have broke 2, but am on the water a ton in the summer and I am not easy on gear.. But both have been returned and back to me very quick.. Both are great rods.. I prefer the lightness of the Cumara.. I have two of the 7'2" MH for just what your talking about.
Cecil
I own 2 crucial flippin sticks and they are great rods. I have had them for more than a few years and not broken one. And like Deitz, I am not easy on my gear. I have yet to try a Cumara other than D letting me feel his....rod... Yeah, I said it!
Jig Master
I've got 2 crucial flippin' sticks and they are bad A. I really poured the coals on them this fall catching a bunch of giants flipping jigs in cattails with flouro and braid. Rods held up awesome. Can't wait to bust em out on Okeechobee in two weeks, had enough ice fishing to last a lifetime. Have not used the cumara's but I'm sure they are a high quality rod. Thrift throws a jig on a 6'10" MH steez (Diawa), and he's about the best there is at jig skipping. Cheers to open water!
dudewheresmyboat
Cumaras, I started with 3 now I have 9. Great rod, sensitive and I haven't broke one yet and I'm tough on my gear. The Cumara has a different feel from the Crucial due to the cork and eva. Get a hold of both and figure out which feel you like more. Both have a great warranty and they both feel good-Light. Check out the Cumulus if you want to spend more $$, Shimano makes great products!!
BassKnuckles
Deitz any specials on Cumaras available?
Deitz Dittrich
Not right now.. Thornes had some at the St.Paul Sportshow and had a very good deal on them. Not allowed to say what the deal was on the internet.. but it was a very good deal. I would expect to see some pretty good deals at the Big MPLS sportshow coming up.. But really hard to say if there will be any other deals. Most Shimano products have MAP(minimum advertised price) so, unless its an event at a sportshow or something, the price is what the price is. BassKnuckles
Well if you decide to get rid of your last year models because you end up getting some new upgrades feel free to shoot me a message.
blakjack23
I haven't tried the Crucials, but have owned a few Cumaras. Very light, crisp and well balanced sticks. And the over the counter warranty is a big bonus. The 68MHF would be a great choice for what you need. And you can find used Cumaras for around $150, at that price they are a great rod for the money.
