Squeaky belt

Recommended Posts

Sounds like a dry belt. While the engine is running take a can of WD40 with the long spray tube on it and give the V side of the belt a small spray of WD40. Now rememeber the belt is spinning quite fast so just one quick spray is all it will take. If this happens to be the flat serpentine belt it will work the same way.

The belt is on an automatic tensioner. If the belt is not cracked then apply a little dab of di-electric grease to the belt with the engine off. If the noise goes away replace the belt. If the noise persists check the A/c belt (its probably cracked).
