Colored Crank Baits

I heard the other day that painting shad raps and other crank baits with black perm marker and straying wd40 on your baits works. I have read about black marker before just wondering if any one has tried on or the other. And if it works any better than normal.The black color gives a good shadow form what I read, just wondering.

What you really need to try is the black pearlescent paint. My black pearlescent lures are my ace in the hole.

Blackstarluver where do you find black pearolescent markers at. And has any heard much about useing dead bait over live bait when the fish are inactive.
