Laughable to most but I hate video games and I still have my tube TV(still works so I refuse to replace) But I bought my son a 32" lcd and a Wii for X-mas.What wires do I need to hook it up or what are the best types to use? He has a Playstation that will need to be hooked up to it too.

It will come with the cables to hook it up to the TV. If you want the absolute best quality (which it sounds like you don't) there are component video cables that will allow up to 480P instead of 480i on the Wii with a HD TV. Not a huge difference in picture quality between the 2 so let him run with the one that comes with it.
