Rattling the right way.

I've done quite a bit of reading this year and have come to realize that in order for rattling to work on a fairly consistant basis a few details have to most likely be taken care of. I think rattling in general is best done when population of Buck to doe is close to balanced. But I think the most overlooked part of successfull rattling is accompanying the rattling with the proper scents and scent killer. Most times a mature deer will circle down wind so the hunter should always be on full alert for that sinario. In reference to scents though. I personally haven't used a dominant buck urine scent before but If you think about it Doe in Estrus is the most important but to complete that puzzle of two bucks battling over a doe in estrus there should almost for sure have to be some dominant buck urine smell in the air right? So this year, when I'm rattling, I will put out some golden estrus scent wicks along with a couple scent wicks with dominant buck urine on them. I'll also use a scent drag with Fitzgerald's Deer Dander as well as attempting to stay scent free myself via liberal amounts of scent killer spray, and a pre hunt shower with scent killer shampoo, body wash, and deoderant. That should create a scenario where my rattling sequences seem to be much more real to any buck that does circle downwind and into range. I've also heard that real sheds rattled together add to the scent that a mature deer can pick up due to the antlers friction while rubing and hitting each other. I did make a new set from an old 4x4 Mule deer rack I had in my classroom. Just hope the mule deer rack doesn't smeel different than a whitetailed deer rack.
