Black Bear
I have a 1999 Honda Accord EX (V6-2 door-100,000 miles). When I turn over the ignition I get multiple dash gauge lights flashing and the click click clcck sound but no engine turnover. Eventually, after turning the key multiple times, the engine finally starts and runs fine. Are these symptoms (I suspect) of starter? soleniod? alternator? battery? Any ideas are greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.
Jeremy airjer W
One loud click from under the hood when you turn the key to the crank position is the starter solenoid engaging but not allowing current to flow through usually due to dirty contacts inside the solenoid. A new starter will fix this.If you turn the key to the run position and all the dash lights come on solid and stay solid until you start to rotate the key to the crank position and then everything starts to flake out and start Flashing I would be suspicious of the ignition switch. If everything is fine until the key is in the crank position and then you hear rapid repetitive clicking, then its usually the battery.
