EBass
Fishing can be chaos at times, and so my story begins.I was casting a spinner bait on the shores of the Mississippi (pool 2) when all of a sudden a smallie hits my spinner about couple yards away from my feet. I battle it for a few seconds as it was a 13". I liped the fish and saw that my trailer hook is looped around it's gill. It wasn't hooked in the gill but wrapped around it. (hard to describe) My main hook was in the corner of the mouth. Not good is what I said to myself, so the surgeon in me came out. I popped out the main hook, but I didn't want to try to mess with the trailer hook as a little bleeding occured. So I cut the plastic trailer hook stopper off and tread the spinner bait main hook through. Cool, now I don't have to worry about that wiggling the trailer hook and causing more damage. Now the trailer hook was just sitting in there looped around a gill. I took my finger and gently pushed the hook down and it fell out between the gills. ^sigh^I put her back in the water and in a few seconds she took off. Ah, job well done on what could've been a horrid situation for little smallie. There's got to be a ton of nice stories like this out there. Who'd like to share?
