Opener pike

I know it's a long way off. But I was wondering what everbody thinks about finding pike on opener. I like wallys too, but since I'll be fishing during the day I'd like to catch some northerns, one of my fav fish. What would be the best depth, tactics to target them at that time of year?

Weed flats 4-12ft, spinnerbaits and crankbaits and floating raps. You will probably get a bunch of bonus bass.
