Electric Mower

Hi guys,

Anyone use an electric mower? My girlfriend wants to replace our breaking (broken) gas unit with one, and I wanted to get people's opinions before we went out and bought one. The battery option would probably be better for us, since our outlets are a little far away from the far end of the yard. Would consider the corded units though.

Thanks everyone!

It happens that I just bought one and I've only used it once, but I think I'm going to really like it. It's battery powered,24 volts. No more yanking a cord unless I'm in a boat! The battery ones are more expensive, but you can find them in classified ads pretty cheap. I got a neuton for 50 bucks, and new it would have been at least 300. The guy bought a house with a bigger yard so he needed a bigger machine. Something to consider is how wide is the blade? Get a wider one or you'll be making more passes. How big the yard is can be a factor. Running out of juice before the job is done could be a pain. The guy I bought it from had to recharge and finish cutting the next day. frown A second battery may be needed. Lucky for me, one charged battery cut my whole yard with power to spare. I like the fact that it's light, and so quiet I can talk to someone right next to it without yelling. There's not a lot more I can add. Good Luck.
