Swimbait2009
Hi guys,Anyone use an electric mower? My girlfriend wants to replace our breaking (broken) gas unit with one, and I wanted to get people's opinions before we went out and bought one. The battery option would probably be better for us, since our outlets are a little far away from the far end of the yard. Would consider the corded units though. Thanks everyone! jeffreyd
our power company here along with the city have programs if you replace gas for elect. might check with them and also do a consumer reports research to see what they recommend.

Joe's Kid
It happens that I just bought one and I've only used it once, but I think I'm going to really like it. It's battery powered,24 volts. No more yanking a cord unless I'm in a boat! The battery ones are more expensive, but you can find them in classified ads pretty cheap. I got a neuton for 50 bucks, and new it would have been at least 300. The guy bought a house with a bigger yard so he needed a bigger machine. Something to consider is how wide is the blade? Get a wider one or you'll be making more passes. How big the yard is can be a factor. Running out of juice before the job is done could be a pain. The guy I bought it from had to recharge and finish cutting the next day. A second battery may be needed. Lucky for me, one charged battery cut my whole yard with power to spare. I like the fact that it's light, and so quiet I can talk to someone right next to it without yelling. There's not a lot more I can add. Good Luck.
