Goldeye for cut bait in the metro area?

I was wondering if there were goldeye in the mississippi or the minnesota? If so does anyone use it or have any luck? I reeled in about 200 to 300 channels last season with about 90% of them being caught on cut bait goldeye, hoping they are native in this river. I know on the Red pre-spawn for cats is also pre-spawn/spawn for golds and you get one about every cast by the banks with a worm, nice to freeze a few dozen for later use.

Yep, they're in both rivers. I think mooneyes might be more plentiful, but they're pretty much the same fish.
