Do you have a data cord for your old Garmin?

If so, should be no problem at all with either EasyGPS or GPSTrackmaker, both are free programs off of the web. I would recommend gpstrackmaker, you can download the way points from your Garmin, then do a SAVE FILE AS and output that file in a Lowrance format, put that file on your SD / MMC card and then put that card into your H2O and import ( if that's how it works with the H2O ).

I do have the data cord for my old Garmin (just the cord that hooks up to the computer anyways)

My Lowrance did not come with a cord to hook it up to the computer. I did buy the Lakemaster chip. Is there another type of chip inside that is removable? How do I then get the info from my computer to that chip?

Thanks guys

Hopefully someone that has imported waypoints into a H2O will chime in here, I've only done it with a GlobalMap 3300c and I don't know how different they are.

Do you have a blank SD card ( doesn't need to be very big ) and a SD Card reader? either on a USB device or in a printer? If so, when you SAVE FILE AS in the gpstrackmaker program, you can point the SAVE TO path to that SD Card and it will drop those waypoints onto the card itself right there. This is also the same area where you will tell it to save the data in a Lowrance format.

From here I get lost on the directions and hopefully someone can help out on getting those waypoints into the H2O but you should either be able to put the card in and fire it up, the GPS might see new data and ask to import it or you need to get into the menu system and tell the gps to import the waypoints from the SD card.

Hopefully someone can help out better than I can on the import process.

Thanks Mike. I think that makes sense now.

I guess I need a blank SD card. My digital camera has one, not sure if they are the same. Also, my computer does not have a SD reader. It does have USB ports in which I use a flash drive to transport digital pics, ect.

I guess once I figure out how to get the data from the computer to this said SD card, I should be able to load it on the H2O without issue (knock on wood)

When you plug in your digital camera and open MY COMPUTER, do you see a REMOVABLE DEVICE E:\ ( could be another letter, not necessarily E ) ?

If you do, you might be in luck!

If you don't, a person can purchase those card readers for not a whole lot of money $15 - $20 or so.

Another way to do it is to save the file in MY DOCUMENTS as a Lowrance file, then email it to yourself or someone that does have a SD reader and then use their reader to place that file on your card.

Lots of different ways to do it.

    • My kid was eating in Beverly Hills and ran into this guy. Talked to him a bit and wished him luck in the game tonight.
    • 🤔as a recovering machinist!🤣🤣that must make me a recovering welder!
    • As a recovering machinist, I can appreciate that.  If the spec is 0.001 - 0.0015, then clearly the correct measurement is 0.00125, duh…
    • I just figured that it is easy enough to just get a 3 bank so when the boat is not in use I can keep all 3 batteries charged. I have not bough a charger yet, maybe I will give it some more thought. Edit: After thinking this over, with the size, weight, and heat output of the charger (as well as the cost) I think it makes sense to just buy a 2 bank charger, I have a smaller charger i can use on the starting battery when the boat is sitting at home. Forgive me, for i am a retired engineer and I have to obsess over everything...
    • Congrats on the motor!  I think you’ll like it.   I can’t say much on the charger location but I’ve seen them under the lid in back compartments and under center rod lockers.  160 degrees is more than I expected to hear.   Curious why you’re opting for a 3 bank charger with a 24V trolling motor.  Unless you don’t feel you be running you big motor enough to keep that battery up as well?
    • I did buy an Minnkota Ulterra, thanks for the recommendations. I had a bunch of Cabela"s bucks saved up, which helped. Now i need to get an onboard battery charger. Where do you guys mount these things in your boat? The manufacturer I am looking at {Noco genius) says tht their 3-bank charger will run at 160 degrees, seems like a lot of heat in an enclosed compartment? Thanks for any input on this.
    • You're very lucky a troop of Sea Monkey's didn't carry you away.
    • Wasn't terrible at a state park beach. Antelope island maybe.  I wouldn't recommend it as a beach destination tho.  Figured I was there, I'm getting in it.
