south_metro_fish
I have had good luck yearly ice this year finding them in 10 to 14 feet. Its getting later in the season now and the weeds are starting to die, the ice is getting thicker, and its getting colder. Last time I went to the spot they were not as aggressive but the pressure change could have had something to do with that, but there was not as many larger ones. Are they on the move to their midwinter grounds with it getting colder and later in the year? I find them deeper come midwinter. Wondering if the larger ones might be headed that way? south_metro_fish
I went out tonight to the spot we have been catching them, and they were still there but a lot of little ones and none of the nice 9" and above. The larger ones must be moving out deeper. There were a few nicer ones that moved in real late but they were really hard to get to bite, took some real work to get them. Hoping to make it out to my favorite spot soon with a little deeper water.
markkstanley
Move out to the mid winter spots. I've found the crappies to be out in 25 to 30ft suspending at about 15ft.
south_metro_fish
I worked the last 2 nights looking for their next spots and found them in 20 to 25'. Not in the deepest part but a lot deeper then before. The first night they would only hit dropper rigs near the bottom. Tonight they were a little slow at first with the front moving in but more suspend and wanted a jig and a minnow. As soon as the front hit and it started snowing they came from every where. Wish I could have stayed out longer but I have to work.
