Rich Line Aluminum Boats

I have an old v-bottom aluminum boat (16') with a small enclosed bow, with a center mounted steering wheel and a flat floor. I'm in the process of restoring it; beyond knowing that it is a Rich Line (the logo is attached to the side of the boat), I don't know a lot about the history of these boats. I did gather that there were thousands of them manufactured in Illinois as far back as the fifties and the company changed hands a number of time. I'm wondering if anyone knows the details of the history of this aluminum boat line? I will try and post some pictures of my restoration as I go. Thanks. confused

I've got an old '60s 14ft aluminum Richline too. Only way I know is the Richline tag on the side. From what I know, they are now a defunct company, but did make a lot of boats. Two springs ago I redid the wood seats and transom, fresh paint job on the exterior, and added a casting deck up front and a board on the bow for a bow mount minnkota. It does its job, though I won't take it outside of the small lake we live on.

Go to http://groups.yahoo.com/group/Richline_53/

You'll find most of the story there. Go to "Files" Click on "Files" and find "Springfield News & Leader Rich Line Article." This will give you the story up until 1956. Also read " Origin of Rich Line.doc." Look at the "Photos" section. There are numerous brochures and boat photos there. Check out the one on the second page titled "Ca late 60's Early 70's". It has an aerial view. They began in 53 in Richland, Missouri. They were manufactured by Richland Manufacturing Co up until about 72. From then until 96 they were made by Playcraft and Charger Boats.
