Problem with My Blower Fan

Recommended Posts

Ok, so last December my blower fan quit blowing out the air. I got it fixed and they replaced the blower fan motor and the resistor for about 500 bucks. Same thing quit working about a month ago and haven't had time to take it in. Olds Alero 2000 with about 170000 on it. My question is could there be a fuse responsible for it this time? What to expect when I take it in, should be under warranty. Thanks in advance for any insight!

These can have bad ignition switches and cause the blower not to work. You can check for power in the right side fuse block on the end of the dash. You'll see a fuse labeled htr/ac/ignition. With everything turned on and the blower speed in any position except high you should see 12 volts ant the fuse. If you don't the ignition switch is bad if you do than you can check for power at the blower.

Thanks for your help, I'll take a look at it when I get home. I made an appt at Autoworks in Woodbury, the place that supposedly fixed it the first time for tomorrow am, but it'd be nice to be able to cancel that.

GM's are plagued with HVAC issues! Lets not assume that there was any fault by any shop unless there is reason to think so. I have known Wayne (the owner) since 1992 or 93. I went to school with his brother. Heck I used to bring my car to him when he was at his orignal location in Maplewood!
